WHAT TO WEAR

It is normal for any person to be undecided or unsure of what to wear in a headshot session. We recommend you wear the outfit you would have worn if you were meeting a potential client.

For men, a favorite suit will do and the darker it looks the better. You can either wear a tie, sweatshirt or a jacket. Avoid shiny ties, bold colors or patterns or anything that will create a distraction or look unprofessional.

For Women, a classic office-wear clothing or professional suit is an excellent headshot session outfit. Also, avoid bold patterns or colors and applying too much makeup. If a bold color lipstick is your thing, it’s ok with your portrait.

If you wear glasses, you can choose to wear or drop them, if you drop them, do it 15 minutes before to allow the marks to disappear on your nose. Avoid trendy outfits which are there for a season since your portrait can stay as long as two years or more.

In businesses such as those in the hospitality business, medicine or even sportswear business, you can wear your workplace outfit such as aprons or sportswear outfit in your company portrait.

Let your company portrait or headshot speak volume and your potential clients will feel like they are seeking an expert with quality services or products even before meeting you in person.

HOW TO POSE

Make sure you look confident in your portrait. One of the good positions is to place your body at a 45º angle. For men, it’s ok if you place your hands in your pocket or drop them on the side. Lift your chin a little bit and imagine there is an apple between your chin and chest. Also, make sure the light is reflected on your face in the right places.
